The Scaffolding goes up!

Phase One of the renovation and modernisation of the church and schoolrooms is was about to begin when these photographed were taken.  The scaffolding is now down and the builders packed up.  The builders had to hack off all the surface of the outside front of the church and replace it with a putty/cement/horse hair mix which will not crack of allow water penetration.

The inside walls which have suffered from severe water penetration are now drying out prior to the work required on them.

The outside work was estimated to cost £9,000 plus V.A.T.  After initial structural investigation by the builders and architect this estimate was raised by £2,500 to approximately £11,500 plus V.A.T. a total of £13,512.

Our fundraising continues - we raised about £10,000 during 2000, and Another £10,000 in 2001, while still having to spend on remedial maintenance such as £900 on a rear wall and £800 on the heating system.  We will need a total of £80,000 to complete the whole project.  If you can help we would be most grateful.
