The Church is situated in the centre of Barry close to the Civic Centre of the Vale of Glamorgan, which is on the South Wales coast.  The postal address is Salem Baptist Church, Beryl Road, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan CF62 8DN.  Salem is in membership of the South Wales Baptist Association and the Baptist Union of Great Britain and Ireland.

Work started in 2003 to refurbish the weathered front elevation of the church, then in 2004 on our ambitious Plans to renovate and modernise the old schoolrooms at the rear of the church and replace the  heating and the dry rot in the church.  The photographs above shows the newly surfaced and painted front elevation of the church, and the inside of the church after the work to remove the dry rot and replace the heating system.  The members and friends have contributed to pay for this work.  The total cost for all the work was about £175,000 and thanks to the generosity of our members and friends we have managed to raise over £130,000 in the past five years,  We still need approximately  £45,000 to pay for loans raised to complete the work.  The first new heating system was not sufficient or correct for the church so this has been replaced by a second system that has been specified correctly, although this did mean another £10,000 in expenditure.  Most of this work was completed by 2008 when we bought new chairs to complement the refurbished schoolroom.  2009 has seen some more building work with a false ceiling, new partition wall, doors and insulation being built in the small schoolroom, so that this room can now be used for more activities such as a crèche on Sundays.  We are pleased to report that the debt has now been halved.  We have also had to spend up to £10,000 on the Church Manse which has suffered from subsidence, the need for a new heating system and replacement front wall.  If you would like more details about our Church, out beliefs, our exciting future plans or would like to contribute to our building fund, or  have any comments about this site, please email to: Salem Baptist Barry
